“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” ― Ernest Hemingway
It’s Sunday night and your ready for some serious face time with your significant other, and it suddenly dawns on you that you haven’t got a single blog post written for the up coming week.
Now we’re not talking about that sweet little piece you wrote in between chapters 6 and 7, when you couldn’t decide whether to kill off Aunt Betty now, or wait until later in the story, so you wrote ‘How I Spent My Weekend In Paris’ instead.
I’m talking about the, ‘I’m proving my mettle as a writer by posting 3-4 blogs a week about things I don’t give a rat’s skinny tail about.’ blog posts. The ones that prove to agents, publishers and anyone else who might question whether your simply a ‘one trick pony’ or not, that you my fine cursor friend, have what it takes to be great.
So today’s Reality Check For Authors is: Getter done! As wonderful as your ‘How I Spent My Weekend In Paris’ story might be, don’t get in the habit of trying to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat crap all the time. Man up/Girl up and sit yourself down and write those blogs. Even if it means telling your sweetie the Viagra will have to wait until later.
If they whine just remind them that when you sign that 6-7 figure deal, you’ll pay somebody else to write the dang things. Until then…get in there and get to typin.
